Glendale's Chocolate Affair

Hemi's sitter who is a writer told me about Glendale's Chocolate Affair. It sounded life fun and I had nothing to do on a Friday night. My husband works evenings so I said I'll take the kids.

Let me set the scene. It is February, (the month some celebrate this love stuff). The air is crisp, but not yet to the point of chilled. Music is streaming through the grounds. Trees are lit with soft blue and white lights. Chocolate is flowing from fountains and it is endless what they are dipping in it. Even potato chips. Horse drawn carriages are seen in the streets with lovers snuggled together enjoying each others company and soft whisperings in the air. Romance authors are there and anything else needed to create a night of passion. The overall atmosphere is calm, romantic and quiet.

Caw Caw Caw Caw (the noble family call). Here come the nobles. Dillinger and heidi debating about what we are going to do first. Each trying to assert their own power. Harley wants to be carried and just fell in rocks in front of the stroller. Hemi is breathing like Darth Vader she has a mild case of croup. We make it to the event. My kids run from one booth to the next looking at the chocolate fountins trying to take it all in. They have been taught to look at all their options before making a choice. Heidi decided on Cerreta's chocolate pizza which she shared. Harley took the carriage ride pulled by horse. and Dillinger split is chocolate covered banana. Most people use a fork with some napkins. Nope we don't need no stinking forks, we got fingers and tongues. Most people are snuggle enjoying the sounds of the horse hooves on the pavement. Nope mine are double daring each other to jump from the carriage. Checking out the horse crap along the way, yelling commands trying to get the horse to take off galloping, hanging their heads over to watch the hooves, and switching each other seats while the carriage is in motion to see what is the better view.

Yep, it was a great romantic evening with me and my kids and I wouldn't change it for the world.

Daddy was at work. We missed him but had fun.

Harley took our photo. She did a great job.
Heidi has a lot of my mom in her. She wants her pictures next to all the statues. So this is a man with pigeons all over him.
Yes, even Hemi got in on the action.

mmmmm chocolate covered bananas.

Dillinger you got a little something on your face.

  1. Romance, schmomance. The kids probably made that more fun than it ever could have been. Your kids are hilarious and remind me of a certain few Childers kids I once knew :)
